HAWAIIAN ISLANDS AT A GLANCE

The Big Island

Great for Adventurists

Larger than all the other islands combined, The Big Island truly does have it all.  The island features black sand beaches, waterfalls, a variety of  rainforests, lava deserts, and snow-capped mountains. One of the world's most active volcanoes is also located on the island.

Maui

Ideal for Honeymooners

From exquisite beaches to the lush tropical rain forests, the natural beauty of Maui is beyond words. The Valley Isle is perfect for honeymooners but is also a great family-friendly spot with an incredible mix of outdoor activities, resort experiences, and charming seaside towns.

Kauai

Outdoor Enthusiasts

Kauai, which is the oldest of the Hawaiian islands is graced with natural beauty. From waterfalls, to hiking, or long stretches of beaches for surfing, the island brings incredible views. It is the perfect getaway for those who enjoy the great outdoors away from the hustle and bustle.

Oahu

Family-Friendly

Oahu is nicknamed the gathering place for good reason. The island has a little bit of everything for everyone and features fine dining, music, a great food selection and luxury resorts. Along with that, there is an immense amount of culture and history to explore among the island.

Other Islands

Relaxation and Peaceful

Molokai and Lanai are two islands off the coast of Maui that are very small in size. Molokai is known as a native island that is typically not populated by tourists. Lanai is known as the pineapple island and is more of a private island-like experience. There are few roads that are paved and not one single traffic light. However, Lanai is peaceful which is exactly how you will be if you decide to visit this amazing island.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Language: Hawaii is the only US state to have two official languages. Both English and Hawaiian are spoken on the Big Island. The Hawaiian language is a Polynesian language that is named after Hawaii, the island where it was developed.

Currency: The US Dollar ($)

Credit Cards and Banks: Credit cards are widely accepted all over the island. This includes Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. There are plenty of ATMs, if you would like to have cash on hand for tipping.

Best Time to Visit: If you can, visit any island just before or after the summer. April to May or September to October will allow you to have the best weather. The winter months, from November to March can be a hit or miss due to it being more rainy, and June to November is hurricane season.
