Figuring out where to stay on the Big Island may seem like an impossible task due to how big it is. However, one can break up the island into smaller areas to decide on an area that may be best. I believe there are 5 amazing sections of the island that are perfect for different types of travelers.
Here are the Big Island areas I suggest looking into

KONA/KAILUA
{Best for first time visitors}
Kona/Kailua is an area of Big Island that every traveler must visit. The land homes the most beautiful white sand beaches, historical landmarks, trendy bars, and restaurants of every kind. Visitors also have access to numerous accommodations for every price range compared to other parts of the island.

HILO
{Best for cheap accommodations}
Hilo is located on the east side of the Big Island and offers access to beautiful landscapes including a rainforest, national parks, and gorgeous beaches. Hilo has more of a local atmosphere compared to a touristy vibe of other areas of the island. If you are adventurous, Hilo also homes the beset hiking trails with scenic cliff views.

KOHALA

Kohala is located in the northwestern region of the island. The Kohala coast not only offers the best white sand beaches but is one of the best spots for snorkeling. This area is also preferred by couples looking for a romantic resort getaway.

Puna is located on the east coast of the Big Island and offers incredible scenic and landscape views. This area is also conveniently located to Lava Tree State Park and Volcano Village in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. There is a variety of accommodations in this area for every budget.

Waikoloa is located on the west coast of Big Island. This area homes various family-friendly resorts that are perfect when traveling with kids. There is also an assortment of beaches, shops, and attractions that are kid-friendly.
