WHERE TO EAT IN NYC

The amazing selections is undoubtedly one of the best yet overwhelming parts about living or visiting New York City. The city is considered one of the best food spots in not only the United States but even in the world. I have been fortunate enough to visit NYC a few times and have compiled a list of some of my favorite spots.

Here are my favorites when it comes to grabbing a bite to eat in NYC

Pietro Nolita

Pietro Nolita a full-service healthy-leaning Italian restaurant Cozy 50s-style bar/eatery with a boldly themed pink motif offering eco-friendly Italian dishes that was established in 2016. Inspired by the cooking of Pietro's mother back home in Milan, the menu at Pietro will favor light, clean versions of Italian mainstays, such as a "secret recipe" for pasta alla carbonara, with only a little butter and no cream, and halibut with pink peppercorn and lemon zest. The décor is overwhelmingly pink: a Memphis Group-inspired rose designed by Jeanette Dalrot. The furniture was all custom-made to accommodate the space, which seats 30 and clocks in at under 1000 square feet.

Joe's Pizza

Joe's Pizza was established in 1975 by Joe Pozzuoli. He is originally from Naples, Italy which is the birthplace of pizza. Joe's Pizza is a "Greenwich Village institution" offering the classic New York slice for over 47 years and at 75 years of age, Joe Pozzuoli still owns and operates the restaurant.

Lombardi's

Lombardi's was established in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi using his bakers trade he learned in Naples. Lombardi is credited with developing New York Style pizza and making Lombardi's the first pizzeria in the United States. Lombardi's is still located in the Little Italy section of Manhattan and offers a beautiful, smoky-crusted coal oven baked pizza, topped with purist tomato sauce, fresh whole milk mozzarella, and basil. There is no question why it keeps locals and visitors coming back.

Ellen's Stardust Diner

If you are looking for a dinner and a show and know you wont have time to make it to a broadway show, Ellen's Stardust Diner is the place for you. The 1950's diner is not only known as one of the most famous restaurants in Times Square but also for being the Home of the Singing Waitstaff. Ellen's doesn't take any reservations so you may have to wait, which can be from a few minutes to a couple of hours. It is all dependent on how many people are in your party, which day of the week and time of day you have decided to come.

La Bagel Delight

There are numerous bagel options within the city but if you happen to find yourself over in the DUMBO region, La Bagel Delight is a must. They have a selection of 13 different types of rolled bagels from poppy, garlic, egg, and even pumpernickel and an even larger selection of spreads. I ended up asking the cashier what his favorite was and I am so glad I did.

Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market is a must-visit for foodie lovers. The market is about a block long and a block wide and full of vendors selling everything from bottles of wine to coffee and delicious plates of food.

Eileen's Special Cheesecake

Eileen's Special Cheesecake was established in 1975. With a passion for baking and serving others, Eileen first started testing her signature family recipe for cheesecake out of her apartment. Soon enough, people caught on to her exceptional cheesecakes, which became so in-demand that she expanded her business into a successful bakery in downtown Manhattan. Being so close to Little Italy helped her retail business blossom, and her warm personality made her an instant hit in the neighborhood.

Levain Bakery

Levain Bakery originated in 1995 by Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald. They were competitive swimmers and triathletes but began to engage in conversations about baking, which inspired them to open a small bread shop in 1995, which they ultimately named Levain Bakery. From the start, they baked everything fresh on-site each day and donated the day’s leftovers to charity each night, which is something that still continues to this day.
